Alaska Week

The best cruise itinerary to see Alaska often includes a combination of popular ports of call and scenic cruising through the state's iconic natural landscapes. A typical seven-day cruise itinerary might start from Seattle or Vancouver, sailing through the Inside Passage, a scenic route known for its stunning fjords, glaciers, and wildlife. I prefer the one way cruise from Vancouver to Alaska or vice versa to maximize your trip. ( The negative is you will pay more in flights opposed to doing a round trip)

Along the way, you might stop at ports such as Juneau, Skagway, and Ketchikan, where you can explore historic sites, enjoy outdoor activities, and experience the local culture. One of the highlights of any Alaskan cruise is a visit to Glacier Bay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its spectacular tidewater glaciers and abundant marine wildlife. Many cruise lines offer a full day of scenic cruising through the bay, allowing passengers to witness calving glaciers up close, listen to the thunderous sound of ice crashing into the water, and spot humpback whales, sea lions, and sea otters in the surrounding waters. Additionally, some cruises may include stops at other notable destinations such as Sitka, known for its Russian heritage and stunning coastal scenery; the Hubbard Glacier, one of the most active glaciers in Alaska; and the town of Skagway, a gateway to the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, where you can learn about the gold rush era and take a ride on the historic White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad. When choosing a cruise itinerary, it's important to consider your interests and preferences, as well as the time of year you plan to travel. Peak cruising season in Alaska is from May to September, with the warmest weather and longest daylight hours occurring in June, July, and August. Additionally, consider the size and type of ship that best suits your needs, whether you prefer a larger cruise ship with more amenities and entertainment options or a smaller ship offering a more intimate and personalized experience. With so many options available, there's sure to be an Alaskan cruise itinerary that's perfect for you!
